Pre-Construction Manager in Champaign, IL

Wells & Wells Construction Co. seeks a Pre-Construction Manager in Champaign, IL.

Wages: $124,363 to $130,000 per year.

Duties: Responsible for leading large-scale construction projects from site selection to design completion, managing cross-functional teams, and overseeing multiple pursuits and estimates. Key responsibilities include: Leading teams of estimators and engineers. Managing resources, tasks, and estimate closeout processes. Developing and presenting estimates to executive management and clients. Analyzing risks in drawings and specifications and creating win strategies. Supervising proposal preparation, subcontractor selection, and reviewing construction documents for value engineering. Mentoring junior estimating staff and managing data for pricing and vendor lists. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, permitting agencies, and contractors. Leading decision-making processes and resolving project issues. Tracking budgets, schedules, and identifying potential project impediments. Supervising the training programs and implementing company policies for estimating staff. Lead the development of specific project scopes and prepare accurate, compelling proposals. Create detailed conceptual estimates and develop scopes of work for each trade. Review scopes with subcontractors and participate in their selection process. Maintain and update master subcontractor/vendor lists by trade and develop historical data for unit pricing. Train and mentor junior estimating staff, fostering their professional growth and development. Prepare and present final estimates to clients and owners, effectively communicating project value and details. Represent project and technical information to many different audiences. Manage working relationships with stakeholders and vendors and lead constructive dialogue to resolve and prevent project issues. Perform pricing reviews for scope inclusions. This position supervises work of a couple Preconstruction Engineers/Assistant Estimators.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of experience as a Project Engineer or related occupation. Full-time.
